Courses Available

The club is a Royal Yachting Association Recognised Training Centre (RTC). We aim to provide the highest standard of tuition with qualified instructors. Sailing courses have a maximum of 12 places with participants split into groups according to experience. Safety powerboats are always on hand to care for those on the water.

Powerboat courses are taught in groups of up to 6.

Please bring a change of clothes, soft soled shoes and, if possible, waterproof jacket and trousers. Sailing is weather dependent and courses may have to be canceled or rescheduled depending on conditions on the day.

Please note that the RYA syllabus is modular and each stage or level may not correspond directly with a 4 half day course.  We make no guarantees of progression in that time and it may take longer than the time on one course to achieve a particular stage or level. Higher levels of qualification often take longer due to the amount of content in those stages. Weather and student ability also contribute. Attendance is not a guarantee that you will pass the course.

Start Sailing:

RYA National sailing scheme Level 1/Youth sailing scheme Stage 1 and Stage 2

Practical work is assessed on a continuous basis. An oral interview or short written test is used to test knowledge of sailing theory, meteorology and safety awareness.

Advanced sailing skills courses:

Advanced modules in the National sailing scheme are follow-on courses aimed at refining skills for those who can already sail and want to improve their boat handing and racing.
